Track Trivia:

Speeds around this track usually run about 170 MPH and one part of the track is a lot bigger than the other. Combine all that with a rough surface and some very interesting racing can happen here.

One of the things you can always count on here is that teams whenever they pit are going to get four tires. The fuel window is about 60 laps but because there are so many cautions that is normally not an issue.

Where is the trouble? Most crashes happen in Turn 2 where the backstretch wall comes up on a driver awful fast.

Dale Earnhardt said it best on behalf of the drivers. "You never forget your first love, whether it's a high school sweetheart, a faithful old hunting dog, or a fickle race track in South Carolina with a contrary disposition. And, if you happen to be a race car driver there's no victory so sweet, so memorable, as whipping Darlington Raceway."
