Track Trivia:

"On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of millions - who within the grasp of victory sat and waited. And waiting, died." - Bill France Sr. to the owners of the Pocono Raceway when they wanted to sell after the tracks rough beginnings.

This tracks is unique for many reasons. First and foremost, it's shape. They call it a Tri-Oval but I know a triangle when I see it. Second, it's location. The track is 90 miles from New York City and Philadelphia. Within 200 miles radius of the track is 60 million people.

Downforce and Aero are very important here due to the very long straightaways. There is a lot of shifting at this track and to make things more even here NASCAR now only allows three gears. So all of the sudden it's a touch easier on transmissions but tougher on motors.

Where is the trouble? Exiting Turn 1 and heading to Turn 2. It's tight there and if your car decides to push off of Turn 1, hang on for the ride.
